The final beach hut of the year competition winners will be decided later in the year but show the others what they are up against now vying to be Beach Hut of the Year.

The judges will include Dr Kathryn Ferry, the author of ‘Beach huts and bathing machines’, Clare Gogerty, Editor of Coast Magazine and Andrew Wing, beach hut photographer.

If you’re a fan of old-fashioned bucket and spade holidays then look out for Kathryn’s book on British seaside holidays published by Shire. Full of evocative pictures and packed with information this book documents the heyday of seaside holidays from the 1870s to the 1970s.

The 1950s might have been the heyday of the beach hut but dedicated fans have been keeping up their huts ever since and today there’s a clear resurgence with spiralling hut prices and much media interest.

The categories for 2010 will be:
